Date: 7/9/10, 7/10/10, and 7/11/10
Opponent: Detroit Tigers
Home/Away: Away
Starting Pitcher: Liriano, Blackburn and Pavano
Final Score: L 7-3, L 7-4, W 6-3
Record: 46-42
Recap: I guess I chose a good weekend to miss baseball. Again we had some terrible pitching performances, with Liriano having one of his worst career starts and Blackburn remaining terrible. At least Pavano showed some signs of life. I'm not going to say much about the games because quite frankly I hardly saw any of them. I caught bits and pieces on Friday and Saturday and then completely missed Sunday's game. The only real good thing was the bullpen, which didn't allow a run in all 3 games. The offense had 13 runs in 3 games, which is respectable. But of course the pitchers dug to big of a hole to get out of. One random note: my former boss was in Detroit and ended up in a bar with the woman who caught Cuddyer's home run ball on Saturday. I just don't understand throwing those back. I don't care who hits the ball; I'm damn well keeping it.
Suck-Ass Performance of the Game: Sunday, Liriano (1.2 innings pitched, 6 hits, 2 walks, 2 hit by pitches, 7 earned runs). Saturday, Nick Blackburn (4.0 innings pitched, 7 hits, 1 walk, 4 home runs, 7 earned runs). Sunday, Drew Butera (0 for 3, 2 strikeouts, 1 left on base).
