Date: 6/8/10

Opponent: Kansas City Royals

Home/Away: Home

Starting Pitcher: Slowey

Final Score: W 7-3

Record: 34-24

Recap: Much like pitchers are supposed to be economical with their pitches, so shall I be economical with my words (not because of any desire to see how few words I can use but rather due to my exhaustion and headache). Slowey was fantastic (7 innings, 3 hits, 0 runs). Greinke not so much. Span, Cuddyer, Kubel and Valencia had multiple hits. Kubel drove in 3 of our runs with a double and a homer. Morneau returned and sucked. Kubel hit some kid in the face with a ball but gave him one of his bats as an apology. Hudson's on the DL. Mijares made his best attempt to blow a 6-run lead (in part thanks to Cuddyer dropping a routine fly ball) but was rescued by Guerrier, who got a save. The end.

Best Moment: Facing the hapless Royals.

Most Questionable Moment: Princess batting second. Yes, he had a hit, but he still sucks.

Worst Moment: The 9th inning.

Quotations of the Day:

  • "If he finishes this game and that's his only hit, I think we should get him a used car for sure." - Joe Nathan, after Dick and Bert were joking about Galarraga getting a car for throwing his almost-perfect game and thinking Slowey should get something if he only gave up a hit.

Suck-Ass Performance of the Game: Justin Morneau (0 for 4, 3 strikeouts, 4 left on base). He was the only non-Punto starter without a hit.

Speaking of Dick and Bert joking about Galarraga, can you write an entry about how much Bert Blyleven and Dan Gladden suck the life out of watching or listening to a Twins game? I wish they were both summarily dismissed. Thank you.

I can't stand listening to the game on the radio. They're the worst. And Bert should be arrested for assaulting the English language (not to mention his insistence upon repeating the same 3 or 4 statements over and over every single game).
