Date: 9/22/09

Opponent: Chicago White Sox

Home/Away: Away

Starting Pitcher: Manship

Final Score: W 8-6

Record: 78-73

Best Moment: The Twins smash 4 home runs to overcome a poor start by Manship. Pretty awesome. It's hard to believe that this team, which was floundering so badly at the beginning of August, is actually in the playoff hunt. Also of note, Joe Nathan pitched a quick 1-2-3 9th inning for the save! Finally.

Most Questionable Moment: Megan refers to Matt Tolbert as "adorable". So adorable I want to punch him in the face. Or beat him about the head with something (Candlestick? Lead pipe? Rope? Revolver? Knife? Wrench?). I know he's playing really well and helping us win, but...I just can't find an ounce of kindness for him within myself. Which probably tells you a lot about my personality.

Worst Moment: The Tigers win. Stupid Tigers. Can't you just do me a favor and lose?

Quotations of the Day:

  • "We've said it all along the past couple weeks, 'Just figure out a way to win.' Tonight, we needed to score runs -- and we did." - Michael Cuddyer
  • "Cuddy has really been huge. He just seems to keep coming up and getting big base hits for us, and homers and the whole package. It's much needed." - Ron Gardenhire
  • "Cuddyer owns me. I think we should just walk him every time he comes up. I'm at a loss for words. He's a [good] ballplayer. For whatever reason, those guys got something on me or I just serve up cookies...Before long, all nine of them will hit .500 against me, so we'll go from there." - White Sox starter John Danks

Suck-Ass Performance of the Game: Jeff Manship (2.1 innings pitched, 5 hits, 1 walk, 2 home runs, 4 earned runs).
